Sequana deal

Sequana and the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto will collaborate to isolate, clone and sequence genes associated with asthma. The project will use blood samples from inhabitants of Tristan da Cunha, where 30 percent of the population suffers from the disease. Sequana already has completed the initial genome-wide scan of the Atlantic island's families.

The Tristan lineage complements the collaboration's other resources, which include a 120-person multigenerational family tree from China and nearly 200 nuclear families consisting of two asthma-suffering siblings and their parents. ...
