Roche started the Tamiflu Reserves Program to stockpile Tamiflu oseltamivir for governments of developing nations. Roche will provide Tamiflu to Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations, excluding India, at €5-€6 ($6.97-$8.36) for a 75 mg pack, €3-€3.65 ($4.18-$5.09) for a 45 mg pack, and €2-€2.55 ($2.79-$3.55) for a 30 mg pack, with the exact price determined by duration of storage. Each pack contains 10 capsules. Governments will be able to pay for the stockpiled pills over six years. The U.S. average wholesale price of Tamiflu is $97.63 at each of the three dosage levels. Hetero Drugs Ltd. (Hyderabad, India) has a license Roche to produce generic oseltamivir for use in India under a 2005 deal.
