Acambis, sanofi-aventis deal

Acambis and sanofi-aventis' sanofi pasteur S.A. vaccines unit added the Indian subcontinent to sanofi's rights to market and distribute Acambis' ChimeriVax-JE vaccine against Japanese encephalitis (JE). sanofi now has worldwide rights excluding the U.S., where sanofi has an option. The original deal excluded the Indian subcontinent, where Bharat Biotech International Ltd. (Hyderabad, India) had rights from Acambis.
