Cephalon beats Street

Cephalon (NASDAQ:CEPH) reported 4Q07 diluted adjusted EPS of $0.83, beating by $0.06 the Street's estimate of $0.77, but down 17% from $1 in 4Q06. Cephalon reported 4Q07 revenues of $450 million, down 7% from $484.7 million in 4Q06. The Street expected revenues of $437.6 million. Sleep disorder drug Provigil modafinil had 4Q07 sales of $219.5 million, up 7% from $204.7 million in 4Q06. Actiq transmucosal fentanyl for breakthrough cancer pain had 4Q07 sales of $54.3 million, down 50% from $108.9 million in 4Q06, which the company attributed to generic competition.
For the year, Cephalon reported diluted adjusted EPS of $3.92, beating the Street's $3.88 estimate by $0.04, but down 14% from $4.54 in 2006. ...
