The companies settled a 1998 patent infringement suit filed by ENZN against INHL's Shearwater subsidiary related to ENZN's branched PEG technology (see BioCentury, Aug. 20, 2001 & Dec. 21, 1998). Under the settlement, INHL will receive a license to the technology via a cross-licensing agreement and will make a one-time payment to ENZN to cover litigation expenses. INHL also can exclusively grant sublicenses for the technology to third parties. In exchange, ENZN may license INHL's PEGylation technology for internal projects.
