Ono Pharmaceutical, Tohoku University, University of Tokyo deal

The parties formed the Orientem Innovation research collaboration network to identify and develop bioactive lipid-based therapeutics. Ono will provide its compounds to the academic partners to identify therapeutic use. Ono said the compounds are new bioactive lipids, not from its existing pipeline. Tohoku University will supervise the research network and establish assay systems imitating the pathology of undisclosed diseases. The University of Tokyo will analyze clinical samples and work with Tohoku University to examine the role bioactive lipids play in various diseases and pathologies.
