Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) neurology news

On Dec. 17, 2013, PCORI announced a researcher at KUMC will be awarded a contract from PCORI to conduct a three-year study to compare the effectiveness of nortriptyline, duloxetine, pregabalin and mexiletine in up to 400 patients with cryptogenic sensory polyneuropathy (CSPN). The researcher has requested a $1.7 million budget for the study. PCORI said the amount of the award will depend on a budget review and negotiations to complete a formal contract. PCORI said this is not the first PCORI-funded study that is comparing the effectives of one medication to another.
