Hanmi Pharmaceutical, AstraZeneca generics, gastrointestinal news

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit lifted a temporary injunction that enjoined Hanmi from launching its generic version of AstraZeneca's Nexium esomeprazole in the U.S., which means Hanmi is now free to launch its generic while AstraZeneca's appeal of a lower court's claim construction in a patent suit is pending. In AstraZeneca AB v. Hanmi USA, Inc. the court said AstraZeneca did not meet the standards for an injunction pending its appeal because it did not show it would incur irreparable harm if Hanmi launched its generic.
