In a pig model of hemorrhagic shock, animals treated with Hemopure required 10-40 times less fluid at significantly lower blood pressure and cardiac output than animals receiving standard fluid therapy with or without blood transfusion, BPUR said. Oxygen carrying capacity (total hemoglobin) was similar in the Hemopure and blood transfusion groups. Data were presented at the American College of Surgeons' Committee on Trauma meeting in Reno. ...
