Pioneer filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa alleging that Monsanto acquired Pioneer trade secrets when it purchased the overseas corn seed business of Cargill Inc. (Minneapolis, Minn.) in 1998. Pioneer previously sued Cargill alleging violation of its intellectual property (see BioCentury, Nov. 2, 1998).
