DERM presented data from a vehicle-controlled Phase III trial that showed rapid and high cure rates of ringworm in the 78 patients evaluated in the 91-patient trial. As reported at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, once-daily application of the 1 percent butenafine cream for two weeks gave an 88 percent rate of fungus eradication, and an 81 percent rate of complete healing of the lesion.
