The compound, injected intracerebrally during a four-week period, also stimulated increased dopamine levels, protected dopamine neurons from some neurotoxins, and maintained injured neurons in the monkeys. There was a bilateral effect in the brain, although only one side was injected. Side effects were limited to transient post-operative weight loss. ...
