CELI published two reports in Vaccine Research detailing its heteroconjugate technology. The company's heteroconjugate molecules contain an antigen-specific epitope that is recognized by T cells, plus a ligand that can bind to other sites on the T cell to promote activation. The company reported both the principle of the strategy, and its application to a potential vaccine for tuberculosis.

The approach allows stimulation of cell-mediated immunity, which is required for vaccines in diseases in which a humoral (antibody) response is insufficient, such as tuberculosis and AIDS. ...
