GILD and partner Glaxo-Wellcome reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences the discovery of a cationic permeation enhancer, GS-2888, that efficiently delivers oligodeoxynucleotides and plasmids to cells.
The compound is more efficient than liposomal-based technologies, such as Lipofectin ( Life Technologies Inc.), in delivering DNA to cells, according to GILD. GS-2888 transferred antisense molecules into a variety of cell types at 4-to-10 fold lower concentrations than Lipofectin, and into a variety of cell types. ...
