Sibia, The Salk Institute for Biological Sciences deal

The parties expanded their license agreement to develop nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (NAChRs) as targets for drug discovery. Compounds that act on specific NAChR subtypes have been proposed as therapies for Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, attention deficit disorder, schizophrenia, pain and other nervous system disorders, SIBIA said.
Under the expansion, the parties converted the license to exclusive from non-exclusive, and now will include all NAChRs in which the institute holds patent rights. SIBIA receives exclusive rights to practice under the institute's patents and to use the patented NAChR clones for drug discovery. ...
