MTRA's Pyrilinks-D assay of free deoxypyridinoline data

MTRA (Mountain View, Calif.) said that data presented at the meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research in Baltimore show that its Pyrilinks-D assay is predictive of hip fractures.

A French study in 484 women over age 75 showed higher levels of F-Dpyr in 128 patients who had hip fractures compared to age-matched controls (p=0.04). Elevated levels of F-Dpyr were associated with a 1.7-fold greater risk of hip fracture. Elevated levels of another marker, Osteometer's type I collagen C-telopeptide in urine, also were associated with increased risk of hip fracture. ...
