The Institute and HGSI published in Nature their collection to date of cDNA-based human gene sequences, announcing the availability on the Internet of a human cDNA database that includes their 174,472 partial complementary DNA (cDNA) sequences.

Other sequences from public sources also are in the database, and more will be added. The number of distinct sequences derived from this database totals 87,983, with 10,214 matched with previously characterized genes, and the remainder being newly identified genes. ...
