Polyheme blood substitute data

NFLD (Evanston, Ill.) presented data on use of its blood substitute at the 150 g level at the Halifax conference of the American Association of the Surgery of Trauma and The Trauma Association of Canada.

Allogeneic blood transfusion was avoided by 40 percent of the 30 patients who received up to 150 g, or three pints, of the oxygen-carrying fluid, instead of red blood cells. ...
