Transfer of normal muscle cells from related donors into children with Duchenne's muscular dystrophy was unable to change muscle strength despite evidence in a few patients of presence of the normal gene.

As reported by university researchers in the New England Journal of Medicine, 12 patients received six monthly injections into the biceps muscle of donor-derived, cultured myoblasts. Each procedure transferred 110 million cells. ...
