Oral LGD1057 9-cis-retinoic acid data

LGND (San Diego) and partner Allergan Inc. said Phase I/IIa data showed stabilization of various cancers for 14 to 28 weeks in 9 of 39 patients treated with a daily dose of 9-cis-retinoic acid. Doses were given up to 230 mg/m2, with the maximum tolerated dose determined to be 140 mg/m2.

Severe headache was the dose-limiting toxicity and was managed successfully with analgesics. Other side effects are similar to those seen with other retinoids, and included pancreatitis in two patients. ...
