Natrecor human recombinant brain natriuretic peptide data

SCIO (Mountain View, Calif.) presented data from two double-blind placebo-controlled Phase I/II trials, reporting at the New Orleans meeting of the American College of Cardiology that improvements in cardiac function were related to dose.

In one study, 10 patients were given four incremental doses intravenously over six hours on two consecutive days. Hemodynamic function improved after these short-term infusions. Significant lowering in mean arterial pressure, pulmonary artery pressure, and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure, and increased cardiac index were seen (p=0.055 versus placebo for each measure). ...
