MedImmune Inc., Baxter Healthcare Corp. deal

Baxter will commercialize MEDI's RespiGam (RSVIG) outside North America. RSVIG, a specialty immune globulin, is in Phase III trials to prevent respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in high-risk infants.

Baxter is responsible for funding clinical and regulatory activities and for manufacturing and marketing. MEDI (Gaithersburg, Md.) will receive royalties and reimbursement for an undisclosed amount of previously funded research upon achieving sales milestones. Baxter purchased 5.2 percent of MEDI for $9.5 million (826,536 shares at $11.50). MEDI has 16.7 million shares outstanding after the investment. ...
