Blood test for antibodies to human papilloma virus data

The radioimmunoprecipitation assay found antibodies to the virus in two-thirds of 137 women with cervical cancer. Antibody levels increased with severity of disease and decreased after radiation therapy, which researchers said could provide an indirect marker for the cancer.

Cervical cancer currently is screened using the Pap test, which fails to detect the disease in up to 28 percent of tested women. ...
