Chiron, Ciba-Geigy Ltd. deal

The companies signed a two-pronged R&D collaboration that will use CHIR's combinatorial chemistry technology.
The technology transfer portion calls for Ciba to pay CHIR $26 million over five years, including a $5.5 million upfront payment and $20.5 million to be paid equally over the term of the agreement. In return, Ciba receives a non-exclusive, perpetual license to use CHIR's combinatorial chemistry techniques.
