GeneMedicine deal

GeneMedicine (Houston) acquired a non-exclusive license from the University of Texas System granting GeneMedicine the right to use the low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor gene in human gene therapy.

GeneMedicine plans to use the gene to develop treatments for certain cardiovascular diseases. The LDL receptor is believed to promote cellular uptake of cholesterol, which reduces serum cholesterol levels, GeneMedicine said. ...
