Researchers published evidence for previously unknown genes in the virus that causes AIDS. In the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, the scientists postulated the presence of four viral proteins that use selenium. At least one of the suspected genes appears to code an activator/repressor protein, potentially able to turn off viral replication, which would provide a new therapeutic target if further research proves that the genes exist. ...
