The Hopkinton, Mass., company announced that its pilot trial in 40 people showed evidence of new dentin formation, but was difficult to evaluate because of an unexpected migration of cells into the area of application in both control and treatment groups.

"We saw dentin underneath, but not as much as expected" based on results in primates, CFO Wayne Mayhew told BioCentury. It was impossible to determine if new dentin formed by the OP-1 was lost as a result of the cellular response, the company said. ...
