According to PBIO, Pharmacia filed its own action in the U.S. District Court in New Jersey seeking a declaratory judgement that Pharmacia is not infringing PBIO's patents and that PBIO's patents are invalid and unenforceable.
SEPR denied that it infringes either patent. The company said it received a Notice of Allowance in July from the U.S. patent office covering its HyperD chromatography products. SEPR said its HyperD media work via a different mechanism than perfusion chromatograpy, using porous beads whose pores are filled with a hydraulically impermeable (non-perfusive) hydrogel containing binding sites. ...
