In rat and rabbit models of gynecological adhesions, the hydrogel cut scar formation to 22 percent from 72 percent of injured tissue in controls. Addition of t-PA further reduced the internal scarring to 4 percent (p < 0.05 for all comparisons).
The findings with this slow delivery of t-PA suggest the hydrogel can be used to release other therapeutic agents in a controlled, sustained manner, according to a presentation by University of Texas scientists. ...
