Calgene, Monsanto deal

The companies signed a definitive agreement under which Monsanto will acquire 49.9 percent of CGNE for a combination of cash, technology and Monsanto's interest in a tomato and fruit producer, Gargiulo L.P. and Gargiulo G.P. (see BioCentury Extra June 29). Under the original letter of intent, Monsanto was to contribute 50 percent of Gargiulo, with CGNE subsequently acquiring the rest. ...
