CFTR gene transfer by adenovirus to nasal epithelium data

A gene therapy trial reported in the New England Journal of Medicine failed to demonstrate efficacy.

An adenovirus vector with the cDNA for the CFTR gene, in four log increasing doses, was given to 12 patients. The vector had been demonstrated to yield high percentage gene transfer in animals, and in human nasal epithelium in tissue culture.
