SmithKline reported that its carvedilol beta-blocker reduced the risk of dying by 67 percent (p=0.001) in a Phase III trial in patients with CHF, regardless of disease severity.
The death rate was 3 percent in the treated group (21 of 696 patients) and 7.8 percent in the placebo group (31 of 398 patients). ...
