BBIOY (Oxford, U.K.) reported Phase II results in 83 patients, showing that intravenous treatment over three days reduced the levels of inflammatory markers and the clinical severity of the condition.
At the meeting of the European Pancreatic Club in Bologna, Italy, the company released data gathered with a 60 mg daily dose of the drug, which gave a statistically significant difference in blood concentrations of interleukin-6 (p= 0.05) and IL-8 (p=0.04) by 24 hours after the start of therapy. Improved ratings of clinical severity, as rated by APACHE II scores, was greater in the 29 patients with the most severe disease (APACHE score of 8 or more), the company said. ...
