Hayward, Calif.-based RiboGene received three $75,000 Phase I SBIR grants. An SBIR from the National Cancer Institute will focus on the role played by PKR, an interferon-induced protein kinase believed to be important in regulating translation. Privately held RiboGene will develop assays for PKR to identify potential antiviral and cancer therapeutics.
A grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases will fund research for a screening method focused on protein translation as a therapeutic target in fungal infections. ...
