Genentech, Glycomed Inc. deal

The companies agreed to end their 1990 research collaboration in cell adhesion, to which GNE has contributed a total of $20 million. Rights to all compounds involved in the collaboration will revert to GLYC, and GNE will make a cash payment of $2.25 million to the Alameda, Calif., company.

The money will see the program through the end of 1995, giving GLYC about 16 months to find a new partner, according to President and CEO Brian Atwood. ...
