Research published by Picower Institute scientists and exclusively licensed to ALTN (Northvale, N.J.) showed that AGEs can accelerate the formation of amyloid fibers that closely resemble the amyloid plaque found in the brains of Alzheimer's patients.
In vitro research reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences showed that the conversion of soluble amyloid peptides into insoluble fibers was accelerated by the addition of small clusters of amyloid seed material.
