RGEN (Cambridge, Mass.) published in Antiviral Research preclinical data showing that AM285 inhibited the replication in vitro of herpes simplex 1 and 2, varicella zoster and cytomegalovirus.
When AM285 was administered to mice infected vaginally with HSV-2, the drug significantly increased survival (60 percent vs. 10 percent survival, p. < 0.01), reduced vaginal lesions (2.5 times fewer lesions, p<0.001), and lowered titers of recoverable virus. ...
