Melacine therapeutic vaccine in conjunction with interferon alpha treatment data

RIBI published results of a Phase II trial in which use of Intron-A interferon alpha-2b after RIBI's vaccine extended survival and caused more tumor regression compared to individual use of the two agents.
As reported in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, median survival has exceeded 32 months in eight of 18 patients treated with Schering-Plough Corp.'s interferon product after the vaccine. Five have had site-specific, complete remissions, as assessed by CT scans. Median survival of the 18 patients was 10 months; these patients had been designated as non-responders in a prior Phase II trial of the vaccine alone. ...
