APG (Houston) presented results showing the ability of its gene hybridization technology to detect fetal red blood cells with mRNA probes, without interfering with DNA probes that detect chromosomal abnormalities.
As reported at the Society of Perinatal Obstetrics meeting, the nucleated fetal cells could be detected in a sample of the mother's blood at 10 weeks' pregnancy, and as early as five weeks into gestation. ...
