Tekron topical ethacrynic acid data

TELR announced that the topical formulation tested in a just-completed Phase IIa trial was associated with eye irritation that the company deems unacceptable. President and CEO Stephen Riggi told BioCentury that the company will decide within two or three months whether to add an agent to the formulation to suppress the irritating effects of the ethacrynic acid, or develop an analog without the toxicity but retaining the ability to boost fluid outflow from the eye.

If the analog is selected, additional clinical testing will require filing a separate IND. If a suppressing ingredient is chosen, then Phase II testing of the new formulation could commence after six months. ...
