Athena deal

Diastat is designed to be administered rectally to patients suffering from ARS. The drug is in an 80-patient Phase III study. ATHN is designing a second Phase III trial, expected to start at the beginning of 1994 and end in early 1995, which will enroll at least 30 patients per arm. ATHN anticipates filing an NDA in 1995. The drug has orphan designation for the indication, which has about 20,000 patients.

ATHN plans to sell the drug to neurologist/pediatricians using its existing sales force. It can be administered at home by care-givers; intravenous hospital administration of diazepam is the current treatment. ...
