Express Scripts sales and marketing update

Express Scripts introduced its Inflammatory Conditions Care Value Program, an optional program for Express Scripts clients aimed at controlling costs and improving care for patients with inflammatory diseases. The program will offer indication-based pricing. Express Scripts will maintain separate formularies for individual inflammatory conditions, which it said would allow single-indication products to compete directly with drugs that have broader labels, thereby reducing costs.

Express Scripts said participants will have access to “comprehensive and clinically appropriate treatment options” and specialized care from its Accredo specialty pharmacy’s Rheumatoid Arthritis and Inflammatory Disease Therapeutic Resource Center, in which patients have a higher medication adherence rate than retail pharmacies. The company will refund a plan sponsor up to $6,000 if a patient discontinues a medication to treat an inflammatory condition within the first 90 days.
