Athersys preclinical data

In immunodeficient neonatal MPS-I mice, a single injection of MultiStem into the cerebral lateral ventricles significantly reduced glycosaminoglycan (GAG) levels in the hippocampus and striatum of injected mice at about 24 weeks vs. untreated controls. Additionally, MultiStem reduced GAG levels in MPS-I mice at 24 weeks to levels comparable to that of wild-type mice in the striatum (p<0.05), but not in the hippocampus. MultiStem also significantly improved sensorimotor function as measured by the Rotarod test at 25 rpm vs. untreated and sham controls (p=0.0264). Data were published in Cell Transplantation. ...
