Genitourinary disease

Uterine fibroids

Prolactin releasing hormone receptor (PRLHR; GPR10)

Patient sample and mouse studies suggest inhibiting PRLHR could help treat uterine fibroids. In patient uterine fibroid samples, PRLHR levels were higher than those in matched normal myometrial tissues. In mice, expression of human PRLHR in myometrial tissue increased uterine size, uterine thickness and fibroid development compared with no PRLHR expression. Next steps include screening for small molecule inhibitors of PRLHR.
