Obama pledges veto of NIH carve-out

The U.S. House of Representatives voted 254-171 to pass legislation that would restore funding to NIH while the shutdown continues. The Obama Administration released a statement saying the president would veto the NIH bill as well as other proposed "piecemeal" appropriation bills were they to pass.

The Research for Lifesaving Cures Act (H.J.Res 73) would provide NIH funding at post-sequester FY13 levels until the earlier of resolution of the shutdown or Dec. 15, which the Congressional Budget Office estimated would give NIH $29.2 million. ...
