Sequestration could trim user fees

Budget sequestration -- mandatory automatic spending cuts set to take effect Jan. 1, 2013 -- likely will include FDA user fees as well as appropriations, the Alliance for a Stronger FDA said Tuesday. Sequestration is mandated as part of a legislative deal enacted in August 2011 to raise the debt ceiling. Unless Congress acts, most federal agency budgets will be cut by about 8%.
