White House endorses 21st Century Cures Act

Politicians on both sides of Pennsylvania Avenue acted Tuesday to improve the odds of the U.S. Congress passing the 21st Century Cures Act. In a statement Tuesday evening, the White House said the Obama administration "strongly supports" the bill's passage.

Earlier in the day, U.S. House Republican leaders removed language from the bill that would have exempted from disclosure requirements certain payments from drug companies to physicians for continuing medical education. Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Monday they would block a Senate vote on the bill if the disclosure exemption was not deleted.
