NPC renews ICER membership without endorsement

The National Pharmaceutical Council's board renewed its annual membership in the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review. The NPC said it still wants to discuss value assessment tools with ICER but that the renewal "does not imply endorsement" of ICER's process or conclusions.

In a March 2016 commentary published in The Hill, NPC President Dan Leonard and PhRMA President and CEO Stephen Ubl discussed their shared concerns over existing value assessment frameworks, including a concern that available frameworks were developed without sufficient transparency or patient engagement.
