Cancer Drugs Fund reform gets NHS England nod

NHS England recommended approval of a proposed scheme to incorporate the Cancer Drugs Fund (CDF) into the U.K.'s NICE appraisal process, with few amendments. In a paper released Thursday, NHS England agreed to use the CDF to fund "managed access" to drugs NICE recommends conditionally, in line with a proposal issued in November 2015 (see BioCentury Extra, Nov. 19, 2015).

NHS England agreed to implement the new system starting July 1. CDF would receive a fixed annual budget from NHS England of L340 million ($481.6 million). ...
