U.K. scientists apply for human embryonic gene editing studies

The U.K.'s Francis Crick Institute said scientists at its research facility have applied to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority to use genome editing techniques in human embryos.
The institute said the proposed research, which would be led by Crick group leader Kathy Niakan, would focus on understanding genes necessary for development of human embryos. It said the project would not have a clinical application. ...
